1798 Rebellion Home Page


From the middle of the 18th century, Jacobin thinking spread around the western world. In many countries (United States of America, France ...) resulting revolutions changed the power structure. In Ireland it took until May of 1798 before the spark exploded.

200 years later, we are making available at (hopefully!!) higher speeds some of the history the Irish 1798 rebellion, and on this server based in the Institute of Technology, Carlow, how it affected Carlow and the surrounding districts.
